Stuff happens
A lot of it is good but sometimes stuff is BAD. Sometimes REALLY BAD.
Smarter people than me have pointed out that you can’t always control what happens to you but how you react IS in your control.
For example, you have a good job, and you do a good job at it, but you’re stuck in your current job because your manager was hired from another company he keeps filling better jobs hiring people he knows from his old company.
If you blame you’re lack of progress on him, you’re sunk.
When it’s someone else’s fault, there’s nothing you can do about it.
Yes, you had nothing to do with him coming to your company and becoming your manager but if you accept responsibility for you situation, fixing it is in your control.
Once you decide to accept that, you’re empowered to fix it. You can look for employment at another company, upgrade your skills and move to another division, start a side hustle and build it into a full-time business, or many other actions.
(I heard a story once about someone who really loved his job but was unhappy with his new boss. While he was starting to look for a new position, he decided to get a copy of his boss’s resume, started sending it to contacts, and got his boss a new job somewhere else!)
But you have to accept that the situation you’re in is your problem and not something that was done to you.
Since it’s your ‘fault’, you can take actions to fix it. Set a goal to make it better, create a plan, and start taking action until you ‘fix’ it.
Continuing to blame others means you don’t control your life, they do. That is a terrible thing, you need to control your own life. It’s cliche but true, you must be the captain of your destiny.
Don’t let them run your life. Accept the responsibility for whatever is wrong and fix it.
